I usually shy away from posting crap like this because I figure (and probably correctly) that the majority of people don't care.
However, I think Funcom has proven that in the time of MMO games, server population is very important.
A while ago, I posted about the impending merge.
They finally did the merge last week. I don't even feel like going back to see how many servers there were before the merge, but they reduced it significantly. Let's say it went from 12 US servers to 6.
For the MMO ignorant who have made it past the first paragraph, when you make a "virtual" character to play with, you can pick which server to play on. You can't interact with characters outside of your server. I don't particularly like this setup either, but that's the way things currently are. So, if a server is desolate, you end up paying $15/month to play an MMO by yourself.
After the Age of Conan merge, all kinds of content has opened up. Yesterday I was finally able to go through, what they call, "The Amphitheatre of Karutonia". The end result is rescuing a frost giant type thing from captivity. It was a lot of fun.
Anyway, I'll be blogging less and playing more or blogging more and playing more (mwahahahaaa)!
I understood very little of this. Is this one of those things were you go exploring about killing things? You prefer that to your blogging duties?
ReplyDeleteI spend way too much time doing this.
ReplyDeleteIt's an online community set in a virtual reality environment. The further from reality the better. I think it might be the next great American disability.
Glad to hear you’re still playing Age of Conan. The merge is a good idea I think as it does cut cost for them. Personally I though Ymir’s Pass was a little disappointing but The Amphitheatre of Karutonia was great. When I first saw The Devourer walk past me on the lava I went “Wow!”
